Registration open for spring Bulldogs Boys Lacrosse

Registration is open for the youth sports program Bulldogs Lacrosse through Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The Glen Ellyn Park District program is open to boys in first through eighth grade, with the season running from April to early June.

Bulldogs Lacrosse welcomes players of all abilities and experience to become part of the fastest growing sport in the county.

For first and second grade, a House League format is available. House League is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays from April 4 to June 14. Tuesdays will consist of 90-minute practices from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays will be morning games.

The cost of the House League is $160 for Glen Ellyn Park District residents and $235 for nonresidents.

Third to eighth grade will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, play in an end of the season tournament in early June, and will typically play in 10 games against neighboring towns through the Illinois Boys Lacrosse Association.

The season runs from approximately April 2 to June 11. The cost of this program is $260 for residents in third to fourth ($385 for nonresidents) and $275 for residents in fifth to eighth grade ($400 for nonresidents).

Team game schedules and locations are posted on the IBLA website, ibla.seasonticker.com/league, in late March.

Optional travel tournaments also will be offered for third- to eighth-grade teams.

A lacrosse stick, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, and mouth guard are required for all players by the first day of practice and are not included in the fees. Beginner equipment can be rented, while supplies last, by contacting Christine Hartnett at chartnett@gepark.org.

The Bulldogs Lacrosse program is coached by volunteers who have been through training with the Positive Coaching Alliance. Many also have attended coaching clinics hosted by U.S. Lacrosse.
