Wheaton church to host evening of remembrance, respite and contemplation with 'Longest Night' service

Recognizing that the holidays are not always a time of joy and cheer, Wheaton's Gary United Methodist Church invites the public to a "Longest Night" service. Here, those who are struggling can take a welcome break from the hurried pace of the season.

The service will provide an opportunity to remember missing loved ones, share our hurting places with God or simply relax and decompress from the stresses of the season. The evening will include beautiful music, prayer, candles and scripture.

The event will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. All are welcome, regardless of church affiliation. Ample parking is available in the church lot and on surrounding streets.
