Applications now accepted for Hanover Twp. holiday programs

Hanover Township families facing financial hardship can now apply for the annual December holiday sponsor-a-family and toy drive programs.

Applications will be accepted from 9 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., in Hanover Park.

Residents must be signed in by 10:30 a.m. to guarantee an appointment. Applications will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 20.

"Last year, 561 families were sponsored and more than 1,583 children received gifts from our toy drive," said Hanover Township Supervisor Brian P. McGuire.

"We understand that providing an enjoyable experience during the holidays can be financially difficult, and encourage struggling parents and guardians to apply for these programs."

Required documents for the application process include: valid ID, utility bill dated within the last 30 days, birth certificate for children ages 15 and younger or medical card, proof of income covering the last 30 days prior to the date of the application. Additional items may be requested to determine eligibility.
