CLC offers 50th Anniversary Sale on tickets for Salute to Gospel Music Concert

Don't wait to buy tickets to College of Lake County's 36th annual Salute to Gospel Music Concert at the Genesee Theatre. In honor of CLC's 50th anniversary celebration, you can buy five tickets for only $50 by Feb. 27 to enjoy a discount of more than 50 percent of the regular price.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Genesee Theatre, 203 N. Genesee St. in Waukegan. Presented by CLC's Lakeshore Campus, this year's event features performer Bishop Hezekiah Walker. The multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning, newly inducted Gospel Music Hall of Famer and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir continue to uplift the masses from far and wide with inspirational songs that focus on maintaining faith and overcoming life's daunting moments. Some of their most popular singles include "Every Praise," "Souled Out," "Let's Dance" and "99-1/2."

Effie Rolfe, a Chicago-based media personality, speaker and author, will serve as emcee along with JoHaan Cotton-Wilson, CLC special projects coordinator. Additionally, the 2020 Harambee Award of Excellence will be presented to the Rev. Jason Dewey and the Rev. Cory Ratliff, co-pastors at Sign of the Dove Church in Waukegan. Special guests include the CLC Gospel Choir, directed by Matthew Hunter.

Additionally, the concert will include the first "Reunion Choir" in CLC's 50-year history, led by three former Gospel Choir conductors-Dr. Sandra Leconte, Mark Cosey and Charles Hayes. If you have sung in the choir within the last 50 years and would like to participate, contact Cotton-Wilson at (847) 543-2112.

In addition to the concert, CLC's Black Student Union, one of the college's oldest clubs, will celebrate its 50 years by hosting a pre-show reception to honor the winners of an essay contest. More details on the contest will follow in the next few weeks.
