Batavia American Legion to bring holiday gifts to senior veterans

The Batavia American Legion Post 504 wishes to thank the general public for being so generous during its "Gifts for Yanks" poppy collection on Veterans Day weekend.

The post also wishes to thank the Batavia merchants who were kind to allow the group to collect at their businesses. They were Apple Villa Restaurant, Briana's Restaurant, Lumes Restaurant, Pal Joey's Pizza Restaurant, Batavia Jewel-Osco, Batavia Walmart, and the 7-11 on East Wilson Street in Batavia.

Post 504 members will be distributing Christmas presents on Saturday, Dec. 14, to the veterans now residing at the Holmstad, Heritage Woods, and Batavia Rehab. All monies collected from the poppy collections went to purchase these gifts.

Batavia American Legion Post 504 will hold its monthly coffee get-together at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Panera Bread, 154 W. Wilson St. in Batavia. The event, held on the first Saturday of the month, welcomes all veterans to join in on an informal discussion of personal experiences (no politics).
