New book launched by local Naperville author and publisher

After winning multiple awards for Indie Publishing, Thought Collection Publishing, based in Naperville, has released the first book in their new series "To Err Is Healthcare" titled "What the U.S. Healthcare System Doesn't Want You To Know, Why, And How You Can Do Something About It."

The book series has a goal that is two-fold. First, to educate the general population about our healthcare system and turn them into consumers that are informed about an industry we spend our entire lives in.

Second, is to spark conversation among citizens about topics we don't normally talk about.

This is all-in an effort to save our system from collapsing.

Author Kat Lahr uses real patient stories and visuals such as statistics and graphs to help break down the complexity of our healthcare system in an easy to consume manner. She also makes some bold claims indicating that consumers of healthcare are conditioned to be uninformed and misguided.

Further, Lahr notes that the U.S. healthcare system - health insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, specialists, and others - is assembled to keep us sick and incumbents don't want us to know this because it's making them very rich. As a form of public service to the uninformed health consumer, which studies show to be 90% of Americans, this powerful and one-of-a-kind exposé provides the data and facts from reputable sources to support these bold conclusions and urges readers to make their own.

Lahr, a local Naperville resident says, "One of the main reasons for market failure in the healthcare industry is because we are uninformed." She goes on to say that "But we aren't helpless in this broken system and in this book I take us through specific ways we can make an impact towards change today and now. This book is for the American healthcare consumer. In essence that's everyone. We all are born into the system, we use the system throughout life, and we also die in the system. As a result we must become educated on what's going on and take more ownership of it. "

Lahr is a university professor, independent researcher, and is an inductee of Sigma Beta Delta, the National Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration. Her passion for public health has given her appointment by a former Illinois Governor on the State Health Improvement Planning and Healthy Illinois 2021 councils. She advocates for awareness, transparency, and a person's right to know.

The book is available digitally for $2.99 and in print for $12.99 in black and white and $34.99 in color on amazon.com.

Information about the book, including a book trailer, excerpts, and discussion notes for book clubs and reading groups are available at www.toerrishealthcare.com.
