St. Paul United Church of Christ Barrington Places Ribbons for Peace Throughout Christmas Season

St. Paul United Church of Christ, 401 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL, is inviting the community to join in lifting up wishes or prayers for our world throughout the upcoming Christmas Season. During the Ribbons for Peace program, people can stop by the church, select a ribbon and then tie it on any part of the outdoor wrought iron railings as they offer a prayer or Christmas wish for our world.

Rev. Jana Chwalisz, St. Paul's pastor said, "We believe the essence of Christmas is hope, peace, joy and love - the very things our world is in desperate need of right now - and bringing those things about for our world begins with sharing our desires for them through prayers and intentions. We wanted to do something a little different this year during the weeks before Christmas and thought what would be better than encouraging people from the community and surrounding area to stop by, offer a little wish for our world and to leave a joyous symbol of that intention for everyone to see and enjoy."

The congregation began tying ribbons on the outdoor railings during a recent worship service as a way to kick-off the Ribbons for Peace program. If you'd like to help spread love, hope, peace and joy by adding a ribbon to the railings this Christmas Season, stop by the church and select a ribbon from the container located outside near the red doors of the sanctuary, and then spend a little time lifting up your prayer or wish for our world as you tie it to the railing. You can bring your own ribbon if you'd like or, if you can't stop by, you can mail your ribbon to St. Paul UCC at 401 E. Main Street, Barrington, IL, 60010, and someone will tie it on the railing for you.

You don't have to be a member of St. Paul UCC to participate in this interfaith, ecumenical, family-friendly community event. For more information please call the church office at 847-381-0460 or visit St. Paul's website at www.stpauluccbarrinton.org.
