Cello Students Star in November 5 Event at Arts in Bartlett

Fourteen young musicians were featured in the Fall Cello Recital staged by Dorothy Deen's Cello Studio at Arts in Bartlett on November 5. From age 7 to adults, these students showcased classical, jazz and blues music.

A highlight of the evening was the Milhanya Trio, a new group formed by string principals in the Elgin Youth Symphony: Millan Mallipeddi, age 12, cello; Aanya Navsariwala, age 13, violin; and Hannah Brazis, age 13, viola.

Two students, Mallipeddi and Jane Lin, age 16, were selected to play with the New Philharmonic Orchestra at the MAC on the College of DuPage campus last year, achieving recognition for their skill gained under Ms. Deen, who is principal cello with that orchestra.

Arts in Bartlett, 215 S. Main Street, is an all-volunteer arts council, offering music and art lessons for all ages, a gallery for artists to sell their works, special musical events and the Global Arts Festival to be held in Bartlett Park, June 27-28, 2020.
