State's Attorney Michael Nerheim to speak at One Nation Under God Breakfast

Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim will be the guest speaker at the One Nation Under God Breakfast hosted by the Exchange Clubs of Lake County from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 N. Hunt Club Road. The event is free and open to the public.

Hosted each year during the week of Thanksgiving, the event brings together communities to acknowledge and appreciate the important roles religious faith and freedom have played in the nation's history.

The program will feature presentation of colors by the Gurnee Fire and Police Departments, recognition of the 2019 Gurnee Police Officer of the Year and the Police Department Civilian of the Year, and recognition of military veterans and their service to the country with a medley of patriotic songs by Lakeshore Singers, formerly Viking Park Singers. Additionally, Mission BBQ, Gurnee, will be recognized with a Proudly We Hail plaque , an Exchange project that recognizes businesses and homeowners who display the American flag properly and regularly. Mission BBQ was chosen not only for its display of the flag but also for its service to veterans.

The Exchange is a national service organization working together to make communities better places through programs of service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention of child abuse.
