sweatyswag teams with Patriot Sports & Fitness to support chemotherapy patients
On Oct. 21, sweatyswag and Patriot Sports and Fitness joined forces to fundraise to create chemo relief bags for patients at the Nancy W. Knowles Cancer Center at Edward-Elmhurst Hospital.
Two boxing sessions were offered and a small donation was requested to "Knock Out" the ill side effects that women and men may experience from chemotherapy treatment. In addition, many individuals dropped off financial donations and items for the fundraiser. The goal of the event was to raise money to create and hand deliver chemo relief bags to patients at the hospital.
As a result of the event, sweatyswag, along with the York junior varsity hockey team, was able to deliver more than 70 bags on Friday, Oct. 25, to benefit chemotherapy patients. Included in the chemo bags were items that patients may want to use during treatment - from unscented lip balms to hard candy such as ginger to take away the bad taste of chemotherapy. In addition, sweatyswag and Patriot gave gifts to the nursing staff to thank them for all the hard work that they do. According to the hospital, it was one of the largest donations of its kind.
An important part of sweatyswag's message is "on the 21st, we share kindness." According to sweatyswag's Tracey Janowitz, the brand is "about the love we have for each other but, most importantly, the love we have for ourselves."
