Wheaton church choir to perform at choral directors convention

The Festival Choir and Orchestra of Wheaton's Gary United Methodist Church have been selected to perform at the Illinois American Choral Directors Association Fall Convention.

They will be joined by guest soloists Nathalie Colas and Andrzej Stec as they perform Dan Forrest's "LUX: The Dawn from On High."

"LUX" celebrates the theme of light in musical settings of ancient liturgy, scripture, and modern poetry. Forrest is an acclaimed young composer whose music is accessible and enjoyable for all ages.

The public is invited to the event, which begins at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at College Church, 332 E. Seminary Ave. in Wheaton. Admission is $5 at the door.

The performance will be conducted by Jennifer Whiting, Director of Music for Gary Church, who commented: "Collaborating with musicians who love what they do is deeply satisfying, and that joy comes through in the musical performance. We are delighted to share this powerful work with our community, and we thank the association for giving us this special honor!"

Gary United Methodist Church of Wheaton is an active, mission-oriented congregation with deep roots in the community going back over 160 years.

The American Choral Directors Association is a nonprofit, professional association of choral conductors that exists to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
