NIU Engineering to host open house Nov. 2

On Saturday, Nov. 2, students and their parents are invited to attend an open house of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tours of the college's three facilities and its 40 research and teaching labs will be provided, and faculty, students and advisers will be on hand to talk about degree options, transfer information and admissions.

The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology prides itself on emphasizing hands-on experience for students.

As soon as they are enrolled, students can start to apply what they're learning in the classroom in labs and as participants in the 20 student organizations and clubs.

The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is ranked in the top 40 for undergraduate engineering programs by U.S. News & World Report, 2019. It introduced Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial and systems engineering this month.

Earlier in 2019, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology began offering bachelor of science degrees in biomedical engineering and mechatronics engineering in 2019.

The bachelor programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. and the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering for electrical engineering, engineering technology, industrial and systems engineering, and mechanical engineering.
