West Chicago High School students selected for ILMEA Festival

Six students from West Chicago Community High School have been selected by audition for the Illinois Music Education Association District 9 Honor Festival on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The students are:

• From Carol Stream, Philip Calabrese (choir) and Sammy Incrocci (choir).

• From West Chicago, Matt McDonald (choir), Heidi Murillo (orchestra), and Maura Nika (choir).

• From Winfield, Max Russo (band).

The students competed against close to 2000 students in band, choir, and orchestra from DuPage and Kane counties.

The highly competitive auditions required students to prepare scales, etudes, and a selected piece of music chosen by ILMEA.

Students will participate in the District 9 Honor Festival on Saturday, Nov. 2, at East Aurora High School.

During the day, students will participate in rehearsals and sectionals with guest conductors, and then perform for family, friends, and the community in the evening.

The students are under the direction of Brandon Fantozzi (choir), James Wallace (band), and Alexandra Wojciechowski (orchestra).
