Judson recognized in 3 U.S. News & World Report rankings

On Sept. 9, U.S. News & World Report released its annual "Best Colleges Guidebook" and Judson University in Elgin placed well in several notable categories.

Judson was listed No. 72 overall among Midwest Regional Universities, No. 45 in "Top Performers on Social Mobility," and, most notably, No. 17 in "Best Undergraduate Teaching" among Midwest Regional Universities.

Judson received the recognition of being ranked No. 17 for having "an especially strong commitment to undergraduate teaching." This newly highlighted ranking reflects the hard work and dedication of Judson University's Division of Education, which offers Doctorate, Master and Undergraduate level degrees.

Judson ranked No. 45 in the "Top Performers on Social Mobility." The U.S. News and World Report writes that "some colleges are more successful than other others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants."

Most of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are under $50,000.

Finally, more than 150 universities were recognized in the Best Midwest Regional Universities for 2020. Judson was ranked No. 72 of the 153 that were ranked, up 14 positions from last year.

This ranking joins the more than 1,600 universities that were also among the guidebook's Best Regional Universities for 2020 in the North, South, Midwest and West.

Like other nationally ranked universities, Judson was recognized for offering a broad range of undergraduate and master's programs, but fewer doctoral programs than more highly ranked universities on a national scale.

Judson has had a presence in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges guidebook since 2005 and was listed among the "Best Midwest Regional Colleges" through 2015.

In 2017, Judson moved from the regional college list to the regional university list. The change reflected the addition of the university's Doctor of Education in Literacy program, which was launched in 2013 and graduated its first cohort in May 2017.
