District 70 schools rank high in attendance

Four of five Libertyville School District 70 schools were honored this week for being in the Top 10 for the 31st annual Lake County Regional Office of Education Attendance Week 2019 competition.

School attendance matters. It is arguably one of the most important indicators of school success. Students who attend school regularly improve their chances of being academically successful.

Making the list for "Large Elementary Schools" with more than 650 students was Highland Middle School at fourth place with an average of 97.36 percent of students attending a week.

In the "Small Elementary Schools" category, schools with fewer than 450 students, Copeland Manor School ranked in second place with 98.99 percent of students in attendance, as Adler Park School came in fourth place with 98.56 percent, followed by Rockland School in sixth place with 98.40 percent.

Staff members and students from each of the four schools attended a special breakfast award ceremony Sept. 27, with students going on stage to accept the awards.

Students who attended included, from Rockland School, Lauren Clark and Isla Ellingson; from Adler Park School students Faith Hasbrouck and Ellie Edmondson; from Copeland Manor Annika Lundmark and Jon Garrison; and Highland Middle School students Lily Flader and Stella Meyer.

All Lake County elementary schools were eligible to be recognized by the superintendent for attendance week, which ran Sept. 9-13.
