Enjoy 'Twilight on the Farm' at historic Powers-Walker Homestead Oct. 9

Experience "Twilight on the Farm" from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the historic homestead at Powers-Walker House Historic Landmark in Glacial Park, 6201 Harts Road, Ringwood. Drop in anytime during the open hours for this free program.

Visitors of all ages will feel like they stepped back in time while they enjoy the twilight ambience of the 1850s Powers-Walker House lit only by candlelight and lamplight. Often candlelight at the end of the day is seen as peaceful, however, in the 1850s, it was a necessity to get the evening's chores done.

Just how much light do candles and lamplight provide; is it enough to read by, do mending or even leatherwork?

Volunteers in historical attire will demonstrate the last of a day's labor, help answer questions and offer tours of the ongoing restoration of this Greek revival house which is a Historic Landmark Site. Follow the aromas back to the kitchen and see what is being baked in the wood-burning stove.
