Shards of Light is book two in the award-winning Healer series, whose heroine, 17-year-old Shilo Giannelli, discovers she possesses the power to heal. Themes and issues in the book include human trafficking, courage, depression, faith, adoption and rising from the ashes of a shattered dream. Miura's previous young adult titles include Healer and Show Me a Sign, along with a children's poetry book, Pawprints in the Snow, which features her wildlife photography.
