Lavelle Law Charities Gets Early Start to Annual Food Drive

Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law Charities officially kicked off its annual Food Drive on Sept. 9. The community-wide initiative gathers donations to support the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. This year's edition will run through Oct. 18, with more than 20 drop-off locations throughout Schaumburg.

Lavelle Law Charities, the charitable wing of Lavelle Law, has hosted community food drives throughout the Northwest suburbs for more than a decade. Food Drive Coordinator Rhonda Holt called attention to the broad-based support the initiative receives from the community.

"What makes our food drive unique is the large number of local merchants, businesses and organizations that partner with us to host drop-off boxes. We try to make it easy for every member of the community to participate."

With support from corporate sponsor Tony's Fresh Market, Lavelle Law Charities hopes to collect enough nonperishable food and supplies such as diapers and baby formula to fill a semi-trailer for the Oct. 18 delivery to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.

"We hope that everyone who lives or works in Schaumburg will make a donation to our food drive during the next month," said Holt. "If we experience the generosity that has been shown by this community in the past, we will be able to brighten the holidays for many families in need in our area. We look forward to having to make frequent visits to the sites to empty out the collection boxes."
