Get a taste of 1880s frontier-era life at Autumn Harvest Festival!

Celebrate Spring Valley's autumn harvest with a hands-on festival that will take attendees back to life on a farm more than 100 years ago!

Autumn Harvest Festival is set for noon to 4 p.m., Oct. 5 and 6 at Spring Valley's Merkle Cabin and Heritage Farm. The festival features live music on two stages, hands-on demonstrations of cider pressing, blacksmithing and fall planting. Other activities include children's crafts and 19th century games.

Grilled food, taffy apples, cold beverages and other tasty fall treats will be available for purchase.

"We look forward to hosting Spring Valley's largest and most popular event held at the cabin and farm," said Patty Kennedy, farm program supervisor. "Due to popular demand, we're thrilled to extend this event to two days. It will give families a chance to experience all of the activities!"

The cost is $5 per person and $20 per family per day. Children ages 3 and younger are free. Parking is available at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road and across from Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.
