Lake Park presents 'Barefoot in the Park'

Lake Park High School students will present Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 19-21, at the school's East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle.

The romantic comedy focuses on a pair of newlyweds, Corie and Paul Bratter. Paul is a young, strait-laced lawyer just starting his career, and Corie is a fun-loving, quirky, young bride trying to adjust to married life.

They have just moved into a small, fifth-floor walk-up apartment that features, among other things, a tiny bedroom, leaky skylight and lack of heat.

Throw in the couple's eccentric neighbor, Victor Valesco, who accesses his apartment through the ledge outside their apartment, and Corie's conservative mother, Ethel.

When Corie sets the two up on a blind date, chaos ensues.

Many theatergoers may recognize the story from the movie version starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda.

The Lake Park cast features Samantha Casey as Corie, Brian Provenzano as Paul, Lily Grosch as Ethel Banks, Colin Payan as Victor Valesco and Danny Steetz as Tony Streets.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for non-Lake Park students, and free for children younger than 13, senior citizens and Lake Park students.

Tickets can be purchased at the door the evening of the performance. For details, contact lptheatreboxoffice@lphs.org or (630) 295-5313.
