Chicago Ave., Naperville.

Miura credits three Schaumburg professionals with aiding in the research for her novel. Research assistance was provided by Occupational Therapist Christine Rojas; Director of the Northwest Ballet Academy Michele Holzman; and Congressional Constituent Services Liaison Yasmeen Bankole.

"All three were a tremendous help with the character of Melody - a ballerina who suffers a serious accident." Miura said. "Christine and some of her coworkers at the Early Learning Center in School District 54 helped me write the physical therapy sections. Michele looked over my ballet references and provided great input on ballet terms and movements. And I couldn't have written Melody's character without insight from Yasmeen, who is Nigerian-American, because Melody is half Nigerian and it's so important to get cultural references right."

Like Healer (book 1 in the series), Shards of Light is edgy, clean fiction with plenty of action and drama, along with touches of romance, humor, courage, and faith. Issues include adoption, human trafficking, faith, depression, and rising from the ashes of a shattered dream. Both are available from major bookstores and online booksellers.

Miura is the author of three young adult novels, one children's poetry book which features her wildlife photography, and several short stories. A former newspaper and television reporter, she works in public relations for the Schaumburg Township District Library, writes the new "Here's the Scoop" column for the Daily Herald Newspaper, and presents writing workshops and travelogues at libraries, schools and other venues.
