'Kids, STEM, and Innovation' author panel approved for Professional Development Hours by Regional Office of Education

Innovation DuPage and the Bookstore of Glen Ellyn's "Kids, STEM, and Innovation" panel has been certified by the DuPage Regional Office of Education to provide Professional Development hours for attending educators.

"Kids, STEM, and Innovation" is a free event for educators and parents featuring authors of children's books that focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts.

The featured authors include:

• Sarah Aronson, author of "Just Like Rube Goldberg";

• Andrea Beaty author of No. 1 New York Times bestsellers "Rosie Revere, Engineer" and "Ada Twist, Scientist";

• Ruth Spiro, author of "Made by Maxine" and "Baby Loves Aerospace Engineering."

The focus is to inspire innovative thinking and incorporate STEM concepts into pre-kindergarten through middle school classrooms and at home.

Innovation DuPage managing director and STEM enthusiast Travis Linderman will moderate the panel.

New York Times best selling author Andrea Beaty said, "Books are powerful tools to amplify kids' natural interest in science, innovation, nature, and engineering. As adults, we can help kids make the most of their potential and discover new passions through reading."

The panel takes place at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at the Innovation DuPage headquarters in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.. A book signing and reception will follow in Innovation DuPage's new coworking space. Representatives from the Glen Ellyn Public Library will also present about educational STEM resources available at the library.
