Sept. 16-17: Auditions for CLC dramatic comedy 'She Kills Monsters'

Actors age 18 and above are invited to audition for the College of Lake County's fall dramatic comedy "She Kills Monsters." Auditions start at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 and Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the Studio Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, Grayslake Campus. The location is 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

Those auditioning should prepare one-minute, memorized contemporary monologue. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. You need only attend Monday or Tuesday auditions, not both. Stage combat experience is a plus, but not a requirement to audition. Bring an acting resume and a headshot photo. Callbacks take place from 6:30-10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19 and will include stage combat choreography. Please be available during this time.

Rehearsals begin Monday, Sept. 30 and take place Monday-Thursday evenings, with possible weekend rehearsals based on cast availability. You must be available for all rehearsals from Sept. 16 through the performances. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 14-16 at 7:30 p.m. Please make sure you have these dates and times free before you audition.

Written by Qui Ngyuyen, "She Kills Monsters" is the story of Agnes, who leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly's "Dungeons & Dragons" notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge. This high-octane, dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and '90s pop culture offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
