Gather your pit crew for Batavia Road Rally

The community is invited to join the Batavia Park District in an epic excursion into Batavia and its history Saturday, Sept. 14, at the new Road Rally event.

You can compete against your fellow Batavians through a series of hints, clues and activities. Teams will earn points along the route as they test their knowledge of Batavia history and navigation of the city. Prizes will be awarded to the teams with the most points and who shows the most team spirit.

Preregistration is required by Thursday, Sept. 12, and team check-in is at 1:30 p.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St.

The Road Rally will begin at 2 p.m. sharp and be followed with an awards ceremony and refreshments at 4:30 p.m.

The Eastside Community Center Playground Dedication will also be taking place immediately after the Road Rally at 4:30 p.m., and will include a special ribbon-cutting, family games and giveaways.

The Rally fee is $10 per team and you can have as many people in the vehicle that can safely fit. Teams must have a valid driver's license, drive safely and follow all the rules of the road.

This event was originally scheduled for April 27 as part of the 50th Anniversary throwback events, but was rescheduled due to a spring snowstorm.
