Area Residents Invited to 'Explore Palatine' and Shop Local This Saturday

Area residents are encouraged to shop and dine at Palatine-based businesses during the 2nd annual 'Explore Palatine' event Saturday, September 14, 2019. This Village-wide event will feature specials and other offers to encourage citizens to think local and support Palatine businesses on this day, and whenever possible.

Palatine-based businesses, along with Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce members, will provide giveaways and incentives such as special offers on health, beauty, childcare and pet services, in addition to complimentary food, drinks and so much more!

For a complete list of participating businesses and planned entertainment, visit ExplorePalatine.org. Businesses will display a yellow or gold balloon outside of their storefronts or establishments. Business hours for the participants will vary and are listed on the above-mentioned website.

"Explore Palatine helps our residents and neighbors to understand why shopping local is so important for the community, and how easy it can be to think local," said Mica Mahler, Explore Palatine committee member and co-owner of Cook, Cork & Fork. "This is the perfect event for participating businesses to showcase what they do; we have excellent shops, restaurants, and services who will be featured on this day."

Sales tax dollars generated from Palatine businesses have a direct impact on the local community and support services provided by the village; $48 of a $100 purchase stays in Palatine when individuals shop at an independent and/or small business; $14 stays in Palatine when shopping at larger/regional businesses in Palatine - but just $1 stays in Palatine when people purchase goods and services online.

Explore Palatine is an outgrowth of the Chamber's 'Think Local' campaign. For more about the Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce, visit PalatineChamber.com.
