Harper seeks volunteers for ultrasounds

The Harper College Diagnostic Cardiac and Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers interested in receiving free ultrasounds.

Beginning in early September, appointments will be available on select evenings during the week and on Saturdays.

Available ultrasound exams include carotid artery (participants must be at least 50 years old) and arteries and veins of the legs (participants must be at least 18 years old).

The tests are nondiagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report, but may be instructed to follow up with a physician.

The hourlong exams will be performed by students under the supervision of a registered diagnostic medical and cardiac sonographer. Harper's program conforms to all patient safety regulations.

Appointments are limited and fill up quickly. Please call the Harper College Diagnostics Imaging Lab at (847) 925-6104.
