Allegro Community Chorus Hosts Fall Meet & Greet

Palatine Park District's Allegro Community Chorus will host a Fall Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 28 at Emmett's Brewing Company, 110 N. Brockway St., Palatine, from 7:00-9:00pm in the Palatine Room. Come meet the chorus and mingle with members both old and new at this informal event.

Allegro Community Chorus, founded in 2003, welcomes experienced singers as well as those with limited choral experience, ages 18 and over. No audition is necessary, all are welcome.

Kevin Kelly became the Artistic Director of Allegro Community Chorus in September 2015. Kevin moved to the northwest suburbs in 2014 after 23 years in Champaign-Urbana, where he served the musical community in multiple roles. "My goals," said Kevin, "are to build the size of the chorus and especially its quality of sound, while retaining its joyful spirit. Allegro is a warm and enthusiastic bunch who are eager to learn and improve, and who love to entertain a crowd. We welcome new singers with experience, as well as choral newbies."

The Allegro Community Chorus gives two formal concerts in Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center each year and frequently sings for other occasions. Allegro rehearses Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm at Palatine Park District Community Center, 250 East Wood Street.

The Allegretto Choir is for singers with some previous choral experience and basic sight-reading abilities. Membership in Allegro Community Chorus is required. Music selections are tailored to fit the choir and to encourage musical growth among its members. Auditions for the Allegretto Choir are required and take place the week of September 19. Rehearsals are held from 8:30pm-9:15pm on Wednesdays.

A winter performance will take place on Friday, December 13 at 7:30pm at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine. To purchase tickets, visit cuttinghall.org or call (847) 202-5222. Additional ticketing fees apply for online purchases.
