Laughstock Comedy Festival returns to Woodstock for year two Aug. 17

The laughter returns to Woodstock for the second year in a row as the Laughstock Comedy Festival takes to the stage at the historic Woodstock Opera House at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

Headliner Tim Walkoe brings his brand of sidesplitting comedy to Real Woodstock along with national touring comics Patti Vasquez, Carl Wolfson and Matty Ryan.

"Laughstock is a lot of fun, and you get four comics for $25," says Danielle Gulli, president of the Real Woodstock board and executive director of the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce.

It's a destination weekend in Woodstock for the second annual Laughstock Festival. Close to the city with a small town, rural personality all its own, get away for the weekend to Woodstock and enjoy great food, arts and comedy on the picturesque town square.

A musician and improvisational actor, Tim Walkoe uses these talents throughout his performances. Tim has headlined over 100 comedy clubs nationwide, including the Comedy Stop venues in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, Zanies, Funny Bones, Comedy Store and many more.

The Chicago Tribune wrote about Walkoe: "Nonstop laughter from start to finish... Walkoe's rapid-fire delivery and shoot from the hip style leaves audiences laughing so hard it's hard to catch up to the next joke."

A Chicago favorite, Patti Vasquez is an internationally performing comedian. She has appeared on shows such as Comedy.Tv, The Very Funny Show, Comics Unleashed and has guest starred on Chicago Fire. She has written and performed several one woman shows including - Tales of a Diaper Diva: From Stolis to Stirrups, Tequila and Shamrocks and Sometimes Mommy Swears.

Long-time comic and author Carl Wolfson brings his topical material on politics and pop culture to Laughstock. Carl has headlined 10,000 shows nationwide.

Up-and-coming comic Matty Ryan opens the show. An alumnus of the Second City, Matty has appeared at The Hollywood Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, Laugh Factory Chicago, UCB LA, UCB East, iO Theater, Zanies, The Chicago Improv and UP Comedy Club.
