Fox Valley Jewish School to kick off with family breakfast Sept. 15

On Sunday, Sept. 15, Fox Valley Jewish School will kick off the 2019-2020 school year with a family bagel breakfast at Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors, 121 S. Third St. in Geneva.

Families interested in learning more about the school's program are invited to join current students and their families for a light breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Staff will be on hand to answer questions. Tours of the facility will also be available. There is no charge.

Classes will be held after the breakfast until 11:30 am.

This is the time to register your children for a Jewish educational experience, right in downtown Geneva. You can register now or the day of the breakfast, on the first day of school.

Annual tuition for all students is $180 prior to Aug. 31; $210 by Sept. 1; and $250 after that date.

Fox Valley Jewish School has classes for children in pre-kindergarten (age 3) through eighth grade, with an optional bar/bat mitzvah preparation program.

Children with all ranges of Jewish education and backgrounds, including those from interfaith families are welcome to attend. The religious school provides a general Jewish education and does not adhere to any one particular branch of Judaism.

Fox Valley Jewish School is run by Fox Valley Jewish Neighbors, an independent community group of Jewish and interfaith families who come together for religious, social, educational and community service activities in the Tri-Cities and surrounding towns. The school was founded 10 years ago to meet the need for a progressive Jewish education for children living in the area. Its goal to encourage a positive Jewish identity in each student by providing an education that focuses on the American Jewish experience, ethics, Jewish holidays and observances, community service and care of the environment.

Children also get an introduction to Hebrew and incorporate Torah study into their lessons. Art and music are included throughout the year.

Students also participate in a Mitzvah Project (community service) which includes special projects and a field trip.

Registration is now open.
