Schaumburg Dance Ensemble Nutcracker Auditions Begin Aug. 16

Professional and nonprofessional roles will be cast. The 2019 run will include 12 performances featuring more than 100 dancers; child and adult roles are available.

Auditions will be held on the following dates:

General auditions at the Al Larson Prairie Center For the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg:

Saturday, Aug. 17

• 9-11:15 a.m. for ages 8-10; minimum one-year classical ballet training. Must be 8 years old by Oct. 1, 2019.

• 11:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. for ages 11-13; minimum two years of classical ballet training.

• 2 to 2:45 p.m. for boys ages 7-13; no dance training necessary. Must be 7 years old by Oct. 1, 2019.

Saturday, Aug 24

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for ages 13 through adult; intermediate/advanced. Bring pointe, character, jazz, and ballet shoes.

Sunday, Aug. 25

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., callbacks by invitation

Auditions at the Dance Academy of Libertyville, 746 E Park Ave., Libertyville:

Friday, Aug. 16

• 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. for ages 8-10; minimum one year classical ballet training. Must by 8 years old by Oct. 1, 2019.

• 6:45 to 7:15 p.m., parent meeting for all students auditioning.

• 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. for ages 11-14; minimum two years classical ballet training.

Sunday, Aug. 25

• 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, Schaumburg, callbacks by invitation

Dancers are asked to register online at least 24 hours prior to auditions. Registration is available at www.prairiecenter.org (Youth Programs, Schaumburg Dance Ensemble page). Dancers must arrive at least 20 minutes prior to auditions and are requested to bring a photo.

A parent or guardian must attend a meeting at the start of the audition. Cast member participation fee (for those selected) is $125 for performers cast in a single role and $175 for performers cast in multiple roles or in the role of Clara.

Auditions for salaried roles will be held by appointment at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Professional dancers are requested to call (847) 476-6407 to schedule an audition.

Performances of the Nutcracker are Dec. 6-15 at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts.
