Edward Foundation planning '1001 Nights' gala

The Edward Foundation's 29th annual gala, "The Big Gig: 1001 Nights," will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Westin Lombard, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails and silent auction, followed by dinner, dancing and a live auction. The gala is the Foundation's largest fundraiser of the year and supports Edward Hospital programs and services that directly impact patients.

A portion of event funds raised this year will be used to purchase a new $2.7 million PET CT scanner to replace the current scanner that has been in operation at the Edward Cancer Center in Naperville since 2005. A PET CT scan is one method doctors use to find cancer and determine its stage.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities are available, tables of 10 or individual tickets can be purchased, and individuals and businesses can donate items for the silent and live auctions.

In addition, the gala will feature an "Ultimate Experience Raffle" ($100 for one ticket, $200 for three tickets). The winner will choose one of the following: $2,500 in cash or vacation packages for two in New York, Napa Valley or Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Edward Foundation was established in 1990 and has raised more than $52.5 million in its mission to support Edward Hospital's community health care initiatives, invest in the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technology, recruit world-class medical professionals and deliver the highest quality care to almost 1.7 million patients within the area it serves.
