Submitted by Jim Davis

The Wauconda Moose Lodge is holding a meat raffle on Friday, Aug. 2, to help support the operation of the Veterans Boat docked at the Wauconda Boat Dock. The lodge will be open to the public for this event. The Veterans Boat is for the exclusive use of active or retired military servicemen and women. The boat can be scheduled for up to four hours with a maximum of six people for recreation or fishing at no cost. It can be scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday by calling Wauconda Boat, at (847) 526-2203. It's requested to schedule the boat a week in advance.

The meat raffle will begin at 7 p.m. at the Wauconda Moose Lodge, 200 S. Maple, in Wauconda. Before the meat raffle the Women of the Moose will be grilling hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs for sale on the Lodge's new patio from 5 to 7 p.m.

The yearly cost of maintaining the boat, including gas and oil and winter storage, is $2,500. All proceeds from the Wauconda Moose Lodge meat raffle will be donated to the operation and maintenance of the Veterans Boat.
