Submitted by Wendy Mills

Wauconda FBLA had 38 students represent the state of Illinois in the FBLA National Competition in San Antonio, Texas, June 28 to July 3. There were more than 12,000 competitors from across the nation and other countries, including China, Haiti, Tanzanian, Africa, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Louie Sharp from Sharp Auto in Island Lake put on two workshops at the national conference, with standing room only at both workshops.

Wauconda FBLA had three teams make it to the final round and all three teams made it up on stage:

• Fifth place: American Enterprise Team: Bridgette Galve, Evelyn Barrios and Frankie Concialdi

• Eighth place: 3-D Animation Team: Kaylee Bares, Alan Diaz and Taylor Phillips

• 10th place: Public Service Announcement: Bradley Nolan, Clark Morgan and Benji Chung

These teams had to beat out more than 120 teams in order to make it on stage.

As a chapter, Wauconda FBLA also received second place in the Northwest Region for most FBLA professional division members.
