Elgin police host 'Slushie With a Sergeant' event

More than 150 free Slushies were distributed to attendees of the Elgin McDonald's during the "Slushie with a Sergeant" event on Friday, June 28.

In addition to the complimentary Slushies that were handed out, the Elgin police officers also gave away several one-day pool passes during this event. The children in attendance were excited to receive these treats.

Owned and operated by the Bear Family Restaurants, the Larkin Avenue restaurant is honored to take part in community-building events like this, especially as they engage the local police force. David Bear was thrilled with the afternoon's efforts during this event.

"We are proud of the role we have maintained in Elgin over the years, and we are happy to see the community and the local police department enjoying Slushies together," Bear said. "This is a great way for the community to enjoy their summer while engaging with the local officers."

Officers Lisandro Ramirez, Kevin Snow, Robert Engelke, Kristie Hilton, and Detective Marc Hornsby attended the event. Officers Ramirez, Snow, and Engelke each made Slushies while the other officers and Detective Hornsby handed them out. Local law enforcement and community members were happy to enjoy conversation together.

The Bear family would like to thank Sergeant Rick Demierr , who contributed to the coordination of the "Slushie with a Sergeant" event. The Bear family would also like to thank all the officers who came to the event, helped serve Slushies , took pictures with the community members, and met many great people.

This event was hosted by the Bear Family Restaurants and McDonald's owner-operator, David Bear.
