District 214 students stage 'Mamma Mia!' for summer musical

Natalie Wozny grew up listening to ABBA.

This month, the Hersey junior and her peers from across High School District 214 will perform in the musical, "Mamma Mia!," a hilarious and heartwarming show that features ABBA's greatest hits.

The show runs from Wednesday, July 10 through Saturday, July 13. All performances will be held at 7 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, in Arlington Heights.

The all-district summer musical, now in its sixth year, brings together student performers from District 214's six schools. Since the beginning of June, the cast and crew have been building the set, practicing choreography and rehearsing songs such as "Super Trouper," "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo," "The Winner Takes It All," "Voulez-Vouz," and the title track "Mamma Mia!"

Students say the all-district musical allows District 214 students to share the stage, perform for the community and build new friendships. "It's like a family. Everyone gets so close," says Wozny. "It makes you excited to come back."

Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door. To buy tickets, visit https://tickets.d214.org. For more information, contact Stephen Colella at stephen.colella@d214.org.
