Save-A-Pet Furry Friends 5K Run, Fun Walk

Save-A-Pet will host their Furry Friends 5K: 2019 Paw Power Run at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Old School Forest Preserve, Libertyville. The event includes a 5K timed run or a one mile six-legged walk (human and their furry friend) and has a virtual component for those who want to participate in other ways. All proceeds from the race benefit Save-A-Pet, a true no kill animal rescue.

All 5K Run/Walk participants will receive a backpack with race materials, race T-shirt, and paw-shaped participation medal. Trophies will be awarded to the top three males and females in each age category. Trophies will be awarded to the male and female runners with the best finish times. All ages are welcome to participate and are encouraged to dress in a 1970s theme.

The 6-Legged Fun Walk invites walkers to bring their well-behaved four-legged friends for exercise and socialization while supporting Save-A-Pet. All 6-Legged Fun Walk human participants will receive a backpack and a race T-shirt. Water for humans and dogs will be provided. This can also be done as a non-timed run, if the participants choose to run instead of walk. If your pet is unable to participate, you can walk or run with a photo of them.

Those who cannot make it on race day or who would prefer to break up the distance over multiple days can take part in the virtual walk/run. Each participant will receive a backpack, race T-shirt and a participation medal.
