Rep. Weber Offering Cell Phones for Soldiers Drop-Off to Support Our Troops

FOX LAKE - State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) is establishing his Fox Lake office as a drop-off location for Cell Phones for Soldiers and asking residents of the 64th District to help our troops call home by donating gently used cellular phones. The office will serve as a drop-off location all year round and is located at 74 E. Grand Ave., Suite 104 in Fox Lake.

"As Independence Day is just around the corner, I can think of few better ways to celebrate the birth of our nation than by supporting those who serve to protect our freedoms today," said Weber. "Cell Phones for Soldiers is a great program that not only helps our troops overseas stay connected to family, but also supports our veterans here at home as well. I hope you'll join me in supporting our troops this July 4th."

Although the military landscape is ever changing, as many as 200,000 troops are serving in the United States military overseas. By donating to Cell Phones for Soldiers, residents can provide a lifeline for troops to keep in touch with loved ones back home.

Cell Phones for Soldiers accepts any, and all, types of cell phones from any carrier. Newer, gently used mobile devices, including smartphones, are preferred; however, proceeds are generated from the recycling of broken and outdated mobile phones. Chargers and accessories are also accepted.

To donate through Rep. Weber's office, please stop by the office at 74 E. Grand Ave., Suite 104 in Fox Lake. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may also setup a drop-off time by calling the office at (847) 629-5439 or emailing Weber@ilhousegop.org. For more information, visit RepWeber.com.

Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded in 2004 by Robbie and Brittany Bergquist. The charity has since provided more than 300 million minutes of free talk time to service members stationed around the world through its calling card program. Funds raised from the recycling of cellular phones are used to purchase prepaid international calling cards. On average, Cell Phones for Soldiers distributes 1,500 calling cards each week.
