Author Patricia M McClure-Chessier coming to Hinsdale for Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month presentation

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. It's also a time to focus on caregiver's who are caring for a loved one with a cognitive impairment. Purple Spring Home Caregivers, Inc. will host award-winning author Patricia M. McClure-Chessier. Patricia will candidly share with the audience how caring for someone with Alzheimer's or Dementia can be a stressful and thankless job. As a caregiver, you'll be assisting your loved one with a range of active daily living skills such as bathing, showering, dressing, transportation, and food preparation, as well as appointments, management of personal matters, socialization, and more. Unfortunately, the caregiver may not be cooperative.

Patricia is the author of "Losing a Hero to Alzheimer's the Story of Pearl" and "A Caregiver's Guide for Alzheimer's and Dementia Nine Key Principles." Patricia was a caregiver for her mother who had Alzheimer's. In her presentation, "Caring for a Loved One with Alzheimer's and Dementia" she will prepare future caregivers for their journey, and help them to avoid common pitfalls. The experienced caregiver will garner additional strategies to help prevent burn-out and gain additional insight on how to handle challenging situations. Sharing principles gained from caring for her mother with Alzheimer's, Patricia shares a host of techniques useful for a variety of situations, including someone noncompliant with active daily living skills or who exhibits unwelcome behaviors.

The presentaion "Caring for a Loved one with Alzheimer's and Dementia" will take place on Saturday June 29, 2019 from 11:00 - 1:00 A.M. at Function Room, 21 Spinning Wheel Rd. in Hinsdale, IL.
