Fourth annual AID Color Burst 5K Fun Run & Roll a success

The Association for Individual Development hosted a "Color Burst 5K Fun Run & Roll" Friday, June 7, to raise funds for programs and services benefiting more than 5,500 children and adults with developmental disabilities, mental illness and special needs.

Participants were showered with colorful dust as they made their way across a 3-mile course, with the top 3 male and top 3 female participants receiving special prizes.

This event was made possible with the help of 75 volunteers and multiple corporate, individual and family sponsors, including: Eby-Brown, First Alert, Hollywood Casino (Aurora), Waubonsee Community College, Weldstar, Lauderdale Electric, Elgin State Bank, Assurance Agency, Kane County Cougars, Dairy Queen of South Elgin and more.

AID has provided services to individuals with disabilities in the Fox Valley area for 58 years. AID is truly blessed to have made so many friends and partnered with so many supporters along the way. The demand for services far outweighs the current resources, and AID must turn to the private sector to preserve and enhance vital services.

The next big AID fundraiser will be the annual benefit auction Thursday, Oct. 10, at the historic Fishermen's Inn in Elburn.
