How to protect your children from the internet

The Foglia YMCA is offering a free workshop for parents to provide tips on how to protect children when they are online. The program is offered at a time when children have extra time to spend on the Internet now that school is out.

The session takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Foglia YMCA, 1025 N. Old McHenry Road in Lake Zurich.

The workshop will feature discussion-based, parent-to-parent conversations about how to help children be safe when they are on the Internet. Families will learn to teach their children how to communicate reasonably, understand real from fake in the face of phishing and scams and to be positive and kind online.

The presenter of the workshop will talk about questionable content and why building healthy tech habits is important.

The event is free and childcare is available onsite. For more, call (847) 410-5393.
