'Never Underestimate the Power of a Person' pops up at Water Street Studios

The Association for Individual Development and Water Streets Studios will partner up to bring you "Never Underestimate the Power of a Person," a one-night-only exhibition featuring artwork created by individuals from the AID Creative Expressions Group during Water Street Studios' 2nd Friday Gallery Opening Reception from 6 to 9 p.m. June 14.

Water Street Studios will host the pop-up show in the loading dock area adjacent to the art center.

Artists will be on hand to discuss their inspirations and design processes.

This event is free and open to the public. AID will provide complimentary refreshments and desserts.

Enjoy a cash bar provided by Water Street Studios along with new exhibitions in both the Dempsey Family Gallery and the Chicago Capital Gallery, explore resident artist studio spaces, family art activities and more.

Members of AID's Creative Expressions group meets weekly to create group projects, which are reflective of their triumphs, and struggles they have endured. The members of the group utilize various artistic techniques while processing and reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering their self-awareness, developing social skills, and improving their overall mental health. The focus and goal of the Creative Expressions group is to educate, inform and increase awareness of the strengths and abilities of individuals who work beyond, strive, and conquer stigma's associated with mental illness through the support of family, friends, professionals and their communities.

Water Street Studios is a nonprofit art center located at 160 Water St. in Batavia. Its mission is to help make the arts more accessible to the Fox Valley region and beyond.
