Submitted by The Ragdale Foundation

Ragdale, the historic artists' residency in Lake Forest, kicks off the seventh annual Ragdale Ring Performance Series on Wednesdays, June 12, July 10, and Aug. 14, concluding with a multimedia dinner party for all ages on Saturday, Sept. 14.

These one-of-a-kind performances feature a mix of live music, storytelling, contemporary art and dance, and are curated by Ragdale artist alumni in cooperation with their creative colleagues. The staged Ring performances begin at 7 p.m. New this year, guests are invited to arrive early for special preshow tours, open studios, and/or chef demonstrations.

Guests are encouraged to bring their family and friends, lawn chairs, and picnics. Special tastings and beverages will also be available for purchase. These arts-filled outdoor performances typically last 75-90 minutes and take place in the 2019 Ragdale Ring, an inventive constellation of three round discs designed by David Costanza and Piergianna Mazzocca. The summer lineup is as follows:

• Summer Preview & Ring Unveiling, Wednesday, June 12. Performance at 7 p.m. Meet the Houston-based architectural team, winners of the 2019 Ragdale Ring design competition, and help unveil the new Ring. Also, welcome the artist/curators and experience a concert-style sampling of all three upcoming summer performances.

• Story Jam, Wednesday, Aug. 14. Studio tours at 6 p.m.; performance at 7 p.m. This dynamic music and lit show features Chicago's top storytellers, original songs and live music that complement each story. Curated by performer/storyteller Arlene Malinowski and songwriter Stephanie Rogers.

• Candela Pa' Ragdale, Saturday, Sept. 14. Performance at 5 p.m.; dinner at 6 p.m. A multimedia dinner party in the Ragdale Ring and garden that celebrates Afro-Puerto Rican culture through the lens of art, performance and food. Curated by Elastic Arts co-founder Sam Lewis.
