Sign up for second annual 'Tug of War' June 15

The dragon boats are out and "Tug of War" is in!

The St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club is challenging local businesses and organizations to participate in a "Tug of War" competition during the Heart of the Fox Run and Tug on Saturday, June 15, in St. Charles.

This fun-filled event will be held in front of the pavilion in Pottawatomie Park from 10 a.m. to noon.

Fitness clubs, families, real estate agents, neighborhoods, financial institutions, etc. are being called upon to create eight-member teams to compete for a trophy, recognition, and bragging rights as the Fox Valley's "strongest" in their respective categories.

Each team must have eight participants. Cost is $10 per individual, age 15 or older, or $5 per individual for age 6 to 14. Online fees apply.

Since the Dragon Boat Races are no more, this is an opportunity to feed your competitive spirit!

For information or registration, visit www.heartofthefox.com.

You also can sign up for the 5K Fox River Run at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $35 for all ages and it includes the Colonial Cafe Ice Cream Color Run, which will be 9 to 10 a.m. Cost for the Fun Run only is $10 for age 2 to 12 or $15 for age 13 or older.

Kids, age 3 to 12, can stop by the Ivy Academy Kids Zone from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $5. There will be obstacle courses, balloon twisting, magician, magnetic fishing pond, face painting and more.

Proceeds will benefit the River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles (www.stcrivercorridor.org) and the St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club (www.kiwanisofstcharles.org).

The River Corridor Foundation funds are allocated to the "Active River Project," and toward it's mission to enhance the downtown riverfront as a destination for cultural, educational and economic opportunities that are accessible to all.

The Noon Kiwanis Club has designated its portion of the proceeds to sustaining the goal of improving the lives of children throughout the greater St. Charles community.
