Arlington Heights Promenade of Art returns to downtown

The Arlington Heights Promenade of Art returns for its 17th year with a weekend full of community fun, culture, creativity and shopping from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, in the village's downtown area.

Artists hailing from across the country will showcase and sell original work in a variety of categories, including paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture.

Live art demonstrations will give festivalgoers the unique opportunity to see the masters at work.

Among the local artists participating are Greg Sobanski of Wheeling, clear candles; Shelly Lawler of Hoffman Estates, scarves and photography; Helen Chen of Mount Prospect, jewelry; and Ronnis Oher of Wheeling, life maps.

"It's going to be a fantastic weekend filled with inspiration and artistic creations," says Amy Amdur, president of Amdur Productions, producers of the Promenade of Art.

"Adding to the excitement of this popular outdoor art festival is a myriad of surrounding Arlington Heights restaurants and cafes offering delicious dishes and drinks so that art enthusiasts can remain energized while perusing art throughout the day."

Admission and parking are free. There will be food from Tuscan Market, Magic Circle Crepes, Taquizas el Poblanito, and Lisa's Italian Ice. Visitors can enjoy live musical performances by popular duo Cirrus Falcon. For the younger crowd, there will be kids' activities.

Artists' booths will be set up along Vail Avenue, Davis Street, and a portion of the Metra commuter lot to accommodate the downtown construction.
