Altrusa Elgin recognizes Woman of the Year recipients

Altrusa International Club of Elgin recently honored Gwen Gage of Elgin as its 70th annual Altrusa Woman of the Year recipient. More than 100 guests joined Gage to celebrate her recognition at the Villa Olivia in Bartlett, including Gage's family members, friends, colleagues, and Elgin Altrusa Club members.

Proclamations were read from the Office of the Mayor, City of Elgin, David Kaptain, and the Office of State Representative Anna Moeller.

With Gage's leadership and involvement with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and Elgin Symphony League, musical tributes were a part of the joyous evening, including solo presentations by Solange Sior of Fox Valley Lyrical Productions and Rise Jones of Hamilton Wings; and a violin solo by Wendy Evans, accompanied by Scott Metlicka on the piano.

"We were very proud to honor Gwen for this distinctive recognition," said Clare Ollayos, Altrusa Woman of the Year committee chair, "and so pleased at the number of past recipients who were able to join us in the celebration.
