Introducing Our New Principal at St. James School

St. James School in Arlington Heights proudly announces its new principal, Michael Kendrick, to lead the 2019-2020 academic year.

"From the first moment I met the people of St. James School, I sensed the passion for Catholic education in the faculty and community. They clearly put the needs of the students of St. James School before their own. I want to be the principal of a community that educates students in academic excellence, character, and faith. I have found that place at St. James School."

Mr. Kendrick has a range of educational experience. Most recently, he was principal at St. Joseph School Winnetka, Middle School/High School Dean of Students and High School athletic director at St. Benedict Prep, and science teacher at Northridge Prep. In undergraduate school, he played NCAA Division II college football for Hillsdale College.

Currently, Mr. Kendrick is finishing a second master's degree at Loyola University, to make him a state certified administrator with a principal's endorsement. He is completing study at De Paul University in Faith Leadership and has been accepted into the University of Notre Dame's Center for Transformational Leadership program through the Alliance for Catholic Education.

To describe the value of Catholic education, Mr. Kendrick "…believe(s) that students need to be formed in academic excellence, moral development, and gain a deep love of God…As they become young men and women, they will be faced with academic, social, and moral challenges. I believe a solid Catholic education prepares students to face these challenges."

Mr. Kendrick lives in Evanston with his wife, Rita, and their two children Benny, 3, and Ellie, 1. Both will be future Bulldogs at St. James School!

Mrs. Judy Pappas, the current principal, will be retiring after a successful 14-year tenure at St. James.

St. James Catholic School, a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, is dedicated to partnering with parents in modeling Christ. Faith. Leadership. Excellence. Service. You'll find them in all we do.
