International performer pays homage to Johnny Cash in American Icon Tribute Concert June 9 at Forest View

A captivating International performer who has entertained audiences in more than 85 countries will be coming to Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights on Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m.

Doug Allen Nash captures the look, vocals, mannerisms and spirit of the late, great Johnny Cash in the American Icon Johnny Cash Tribute.

Nash, who grew up on a farm in Northwestern Illinois, is a Nashville recording artist that was inspired to create the tribute show for the legendary Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash after having a personal conversation with Johnny Cash.

"His songs are about life lessons," shared Nash, about why he loves Johnny Cash and his music. "He actually fought for and hoped to bring awareness to those less fortunate."

In addition to Cash's classic songs and his later works, Nash will also perform an original single "June," that was written by Nash and the legendary writer/producer Jeff Silverman.

Nash said that about seven years ago he saw John Carter Cash, Johnny Cash's son, on a PBS special and he shared how his dad loved June Carter Cash so tenderly.

"It just resonated with me and I started to write," said Nash. "The biggest honor was when John Carter Cash thanked me for writing the song."

Nash said he would encourage people to come see the special show at Forest View.

"I have stories and pictures of Johnny Cash and me, as a young fan, plus video recording my original song "June" at Cash Cabin Studio with John Carter Cash, said Nash. "It's an intimate look into the House of Cash."

Residing in the Dallas area, Nash has performed in more than 85 countries while touring for USO, MWR and Armed Forces Entertainment. Nash also received the U.S. Department of Defense's Certificate of Esteem Award.

Reaching number 5 and 14 on Europe's top 200 Country Chart, Nash has scored hits internationally with "Long Legged Guitar Pickin' Man" and "If I Give My Soul." The talented performer has also been inducted into the Legends of South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame.
