MCC Student Art Exhibition to open at Satellite Gallery

McHenry County College will host a student group art exhibition titled ADORNMENT at the Satellite Gallery in the Old Courthouse Arts Center, 101 N. Johnson St., in Woodstock from May 16 through July 7. The public is invited to the opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

ADORNMENT explores the how and why we adorn our bodies. An adornment is generally an accessory or ornament worn to enhance the beauty or status of the wearer. They are performative objects, and they are objects work to activate space on the body.

Amy Ortiz, Sarah Ruthven, MCC art history instructors and Sonya Baysinger, MCC light metals instructor, are the organizers of this exhibition.

Student artists participating in this exhibition are: Kathy Borusch of Fox River Grove, Joseph Combs of Huntley, Donna Zaidenberg of Long Grove, John Diedrich of McHenry, Autumn Pesina of Oakwood Hills, Cheyenne Turley of Wonder Lake, Cary Gaspar and Kathy Winkelhake, both of Woodstock.

The Satellite Gallery in the Old Courthouse Arts Center in Woodstock is part of a partnership between MCC and the Northwest Area Arts Council.
