Susan Anne Russell Solo Art Show Ethereal Dreams

Susan Anne Russell's upcoming Solo art Show hosted by The North Shore Art League is titled Ethereal Dreams. In 2018, Susan's Solo Show, Reaching for the Sublime, was held at The Woodstock Opera House. As an associate member of The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago, Susan's Renaissance inspired paintings are now on exhibit in the Spring show.

As an author of the textbook: Exposing Yourself to Performing Arts, Susan has earned her BFA from School of The Art Institute and her Masters in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia. She has enjoyed a working in the fields of the fine and performing arts, as an actress and interviewer of celebrities on television, to being an art history professor.

Born in NYC and surrounded by art and culture from an early age, Susan studied classical violin and ballet. Susan has been exhibiting her paintings since the age of twenty. On a recent trip with her husband and son to the Southwest this Spring, she has felt inspired to return to her sepia tones in her paintings. Susan has been represented through Saatchi Gallery of London, where a collector from Milan took an interest in one of her waterfall paintings. The exhibition Ethereal Dreams will feature a number of her water imagery.

The North Shore Art League is hosting Ethereal Dreams at The Winnetka Community House. The exhibit will be on the first floor of the historic building. The beautiful Tudor style structure has been a vibrant foundation in The North Shore since 1911 attracting 250,000 visitors a year inclusive of Chicago residents. The Winnetka Community House marked its first hundred anniversary in the year 2012. It has been placed on the National register of Historic places for over a decade. The North Shore Art League hosts a range of annual art exhibitions from portrait, to abstracts to Solo Shows. The beautiful 71,000 square foot building inspired by English royalty from the Renaissance, has many corridors and rambling rooms to wander through its gates, grounds and courtyards.

The North Shore Art League was founded in 1924 and early on collaborated with The Art Institute of Chicago. Known for a club of high caliber, it hosts lectures and classes. NSAL has the reputation as one of the most prestigious art clubs nationally.

In 2017 Susan was Judge at The Annual Festival of the Arts, held at the Cook Mansion in Libertyville. Her textbook; Exposing Yourself to the Performing Arts can be found at University libraries of Harvard and Yale, as well as International Universities and museums. Susan's work is inspired by places that are real and surreal entering her mind through the dream state.

"Ethereal Dreams is comprised of waterfall imagery, clouds and flora. From Jamaica to Peru to Brazil, water, blossoms and greenery abounds. The physical presence is altered to reveal the spiritual presence. Utilizing the combined genres of Impressionism and Surrealism, images come into focus. Fantasy and Idealization enter into the composition and these elements as they transpose to dreamscapes."
