May 3: Dine on student-prepared goodies to support scholarships

Enjoy student-prepared hors d'oeuvres and desserts while helping raise funds for scholarships at a Spring Culinary Festival Friday, May 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Café Willow at the College of Lake County's Grayslake Campus.

Students in CLC's hospitality and culinary management program will serve delectables from their final class projects. Hors d'oeuvres range from tomato and mozzarella skewers to Acapulco shrimp cocktail in a cup. Hot food consists of Poblano sausage patties, chicken Galantines and a carving station featuring pork loin and beef tenderloin. Cold food includes gravlax, a Nordic dish consisting of raw salmon, cured in salt, sugar and dill. Other offerings include assorted cold salads and a cold raw bar of split king crab legs and raw oysters. Dessert items range from chocolate truffles to gluten-free and sugar-free confections.

Beer, wine, signature cocktails and soft drinks will be available for purchase with appropriate ID.

"Stop by and try some great food prepared by our hospitality and culinary management students, enjoy some great company and support the college at the same time," said Instructor Chef William Vena.

Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefit CLC's hospitality and culinary management student scholarships. Tickets are available at the Grayslake Campus, in the Business and Social Sciences division office, Room T302, or in Prairie, the student-managed restaurant in the Lower Level A Wing (during lunchtime hours only). For tickets, call the Business and Social Sciences division office at (847) 543-2047. Or contact Prairie at (847) 543-2527 or prairie@clcillinois.edu.
